In this video, we show how to conduct a continuity test on fiber optic cable. A continuity test is recommended to ensure that the fiber end to fiber end continuity exists (i.e. that there are no breaks in the fiber) and to and make sure port connections and the fiber mapping is correct.
At Alliance, a manufacturer of fiber optic cable for the wireless telecommunications industry, we recommend that any telecommunications contractor installing fiber optic cable at a wireless site conduct a continuity test on the fiber optic cable before installing it. That way, you know your cable is good, without breaks. You will have to test each fiber on your cable, since most often more than one single strand of fiber is installed.
We also recommend conducting continuity tests once the fiber optic cable is installed to make sure the correct ports are matched.
Alliance Corporation sells custom fiber optic assemblies for the wireless telecommunications industry. We also sell off-the-shelf fiber optic patch cables and everything related to a wireless installation including hoisting grips, coaxial cable, and more. Contact us for a quote on your project.
