Cybersecurity students, like myself, often misinterpret what "cybersecurity" really is. We often associate the word "cybersecurity" as it's very own profession. As you continue to learn about the industry, you will soon realize "cybersecurity" has a lot more to do with the underlying fundamentals of networking.

Understanding the fundamental architecture and configuration of the network will not only make you understand "cybersecurity", but will also allow you to identify where to apply the correct security controls. Networking is a very important aspect, something which is often thought of as an "afterthought" for most security students.
