As we know, one of the major advance of fiber optical cable is long distance. It can easily transmit network over couples of kilometers while the copper cat5 or cat6 cable only can provide 100 meters network.
There are other advantages with fiber optical cable such as the fast speed, low latency, surge resistance because it is simply just the light carrying the signal. There is one drawback with the fiber optical, because it is plastic which cannot send the power together like PoE.
So how to deal with power supply issue? Actually, one solution for you to do is to move the power closed to the front-end fiber optic PoE switch. In this video, we will see how we still can use the PoE with fiber optic connection. Meanwhile, you will know how to accomplish fiber optic link with PoE for your long distance IP devices.
