Continuous, uninterrupted power is a key pillar of any data center – no one can afford unplanned downtime. But how do data centers provide an uninterrupted power supply? Mark Taylor of Evoque Data Center Solutions™️ explains how data center power works and what Evoque does to ensure power is uninterrupted … including planning for the unexpected.

Data centers get most of their power via commercial power utilities, but they also have backup batteries and generators to keep everything up and running when commercial power fails. To ensure that the backup systems work properly, Evoque’s data center managers and staff intentionally cut the commercial power to the data centers once a year in a controlled environment to test the battery backups supporting the IT and network gear on the data center floor and the generator that will pick up the full load. Clients rely on data centers to stay powered, this is how it works.
