Above is a demo from VMworld 2012 of EMC's newly announced Storage Resource Management Suite. The new tool allows you to analyze the health and storage performance of your virtual environment at every single end point from your applications right down to your storage, said Paul Swanson, Senior Product Marketing Manager from EMC who showed us the demo.
In the above video, Swanson shows an example of troubleshooting an Oracle application. She drills down through several screens on the instance to see where the trouble is. In this case, there was a lack of redundancy in running the application. As a result, we saw many instances where accessing storage caused some traffic peaks. To solve such a situation, said Swanson, you can create a rule that insures redundancy from the Oracle instance all the way down to the storage.
