How to Add Layer 2 Switch in GNS3 | Cisco L2 Switch IOS vIOS-L2 | SYSNETTECH Solutions

This video shows you how to set up a Cisco Layer 2 Switch on the GNS3 network simulator program used to prepare for Cisco Switching exams.

To add L2 Switch:

Step 1: First, install GNS3 on Windows, Linux, or macOS. You can browse the following videos for the installation.

Step 2: After you have done the setup, the first thing you will do is add a Cisco Router or Cisco Switch IOS image.

Step 4: If you want to add a #Layer2 #Switch, first download the L2 Switch IOS image from the link we shared in our article.

Step 5: Run the #GNS3 program after downloading the IOS image (vIOS-L2.vmdk) to your computer.

Step 6: Click Edit / Preferences in the window that opens, click the New button on the QEMU tab.

Step 7: In the New QEMU VM Template window, type a name for the Switch and click Next.

Step 8: In the next step, if your operating system is 32 Bit or 64 Bit, select the relevant option.

Step 9: Set the RAM value for your computer's hardware performance for the Layer 2 Switch.

Step 10: In the Disk Image window, click the Browse button to add the L2 IOS image you downloaded to your computer.

Step 11: After adding Switch, click the Finish button.

Step 12: To configure the symbol of the L2 Switch, click on the Switch in the Devices section, and click Configure Template.

Step 13: Select Switches in the Category section of the Layer2 Switch window. Click the Browse button in the Symbol area and select a symbol for the Switch from the window opened and click the OK button to save the settings.

Step 14: Finally, you can increase the number of interfaces in the Network section to configure the port number of the L2 Switch.

Step 15: Now you can run and use a Cisco Layer 2 Switch on GNS3!
