The amount of energy consumed by the world’s data centers is about 3% of the total worldwide electricity use with an annual growth rate of 4.4%. A large part of that energy is consumed in running the cooling systems. Hence, it is important to make sure that the data centers are economically cooled without wasting energy with unnecessary forced cooling. Nevertheless, one must keep in mind that the electronic components must operate between the temperature ranges specified by the manufacturer which would avoid the risk of overheating.

In order to cool the data center, it is crucial to know the flow field of air around the servers racks and its associated components. Computational fluid dynamics provides various methods and approaches that help in figuring out detailed information, such as temperature, velocity and pressure fields in and around the system.

In this webinar, you will learn how CFD can help you analyze data center designs and ensure energy efficiency for different standards—in this case, ASHRAE 90.4.

By participating, you will learn:

- How you can test cooling strategies for data center design
- How you can ensure energy efficiency
- How SimScale enables everyone with a normal PC or laptop and Internet connection to run sophisticated CFD simulations and easily test their designs
