In this video Anthony Sequeira covers data center and cloud technologies, what he calls the most exciting technology since he started working in 1994. The CCNA Data Center standalone certification is retired, but an associate-level understanding of data centers, virtualization and cloud technologies can still launch a sysadmins' career.
This video and the video series it introduces may prepare learners for a certification that Cisco recently retired, but the skills of data center and cloud management have never been more important for an administrator. Whether it's familiarity with FabricPath, virtual device context, and virtual port channeling, or knowing why FEX is so important in Cisco data center technologies, an understanding of data center management is increasingly thought to be basic knowledge. That's because the barrier to entry for deploying virtualized servers is coming down. There's hardly a small business left that shouldn't get rid of their multi-tower server closet and move to one, efficient blade server — and they all need administrators who understand virtualizations, data center and cloud technologies, and more.
