In Ciena 32-slot shelf :-

1.) Slot 1-8, Slot 11-18, Slot 21-28 and Slot 31 -38 can be used for service slot. [It can be equipped with either Photonic modules or traffic cards depends upon slot occupancy of different circuit packs] .
2.) Slot 41 and Slot 42 is fixed for SP-2 (Dual CPU)
3.) Slot 9 and slot 10 are fixed for X-Connect card.
4.) At the top below the fan module there is Access panel .
5.) At the Top there is space for the power card.
6.) At bottom there is space for Fiber/cable routing channel.
