On Thursday November 6th, 2014, in the early AM, I upgraded the Seattle Internet Exchange core switch from Arista 7500 (2011, Petra) to Arista 7500E (2014, Arad) gear. This involved replacing 5 linecards, 2 supervisors, and 6 fabric modules, along with the addition of another linecard. Some 160 10 gigabit circuits were disconnected and reconnected. 100% of the ~150 live circuits were back online before the end of the 8 hour maintenance window.
The upgrade started at midnight and the "all clear" was given at 7:48am, but unfortunately the GoPro didn't capture it all. It stopped working about half-way through the effort. Fortunately some of the fiber reconnects were captured.
Thanks to my love Megan for her reading glasses. I needed them to be able to read the serial numbers on the SFP+'s (optics) to properly place each into their correct port.
Recorded at 1 frame per second and played back at 30 frames per second. GoPro Hero 3 at 2560x1920.
